KARACHI: Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair on Thursday said that the federal government was currently engaged in spending a sum of Rs75 billion for infrastructural development in Karachi, following its success in restoring peace in the provincial capital.
Addressing a certificate distribution ceremony held at National Institute of Management (NIM) for participants of the 24th mid-career management course, he said that the government was focusing extensively on projects of public welfare.
“An efficient law and order situation coupled with fool-proof civic facilities are among the government’s top priorities,” he said, adding that the Lyari Expressway, the Bulk Water Supply project (K-IV) and the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit System were fast on their way to completion. He said that these projects were in addition to several other projects that have either already been initiated or are in the process of being initiated.
The governor emphasised that a proficient administrative management was the key to success for any government and that capable officials were required at every level to implement its policies in letter and spirit.
He further said that the government was fully cognizant of the need for regular training of the administrative officials at regular intervals so as to keep their professional capacities up to date.
Zubair also said that the completion of ongoing development schemes in Karachi would not only contribute towards raising the citizens’ standards of living standards but would also contribute in supplementing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, a game-changer for the entire country as well as for the region.
He said that the improved law and order situation in the metropolis has led to the revival of massive investment opportunities in the commercial hub of the country, underscoring that the development projects underway would further streamline efforts being made for national development.
Speaking on the occasion, NIM Director General Roshan Ali Shaikh presented a detailed report about the series of courses being offered at the facility. He said that officials pertaining to different cadres of provincial services from Sindh and Balochistan were also being trained at NIM on a regular basis.
Later the governor distributed certificates among the course participants, comprising BPS 18 and 19 officers representing both provincial and federal departments.
