ISLAMABAD: The chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Wednesday pledged the bureau was following the zero-tolerance policy to eliminate corruption from the country.

In a statement, the anti-graft watchdog chairman said that the rule of filing of reference within 10 days of a complaint would be implemented strictly.

“I am closely reviewing the references filed in courts, as the bureau has been trying to investigate white-collar crimes on a scientific basis,” he said.

On November 20, Iqbal had directed all the officials to take impartial action against corrupt elements without giving in to any kind of pressure.

He made these instructions in an anti-graft’s watchdog high-level meeting held in Lahore. The meeting was briefed regarding the cases of Sharif family, Chaudhary brothers and other mega corruption cases.

Lahore NAB Director General Saleem Shahzad presented the report regarding cases pending for years.

Addressing to the participants of the meeting, he directed officials to accelerate the action on all pending cases and bring them to their logical conclusion as soon as possible.
