‘Transfer of institutional memory to ensure continuity of official work’

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak on Tuesday directed the high-ups of all departments of the provincial government to share their professional experiences and institutional memory of the departments with their incumbents, so that the newly posted officers could easily continue and run the affairs after transfer or retirement of their seniors to ensure continuity of institutional work.

The CM said that lack of the culture of transfer of institutional memory had caused wastage of time and resources, and in the process the problems have been left unresolved. “Unfortunately, this malady has spread all over the country that must be addressed accordingly,” he added.

He said this while chairing a high-level meeting at CM house that took stock of the implementation process on the announcements of developmental schemes made by the chief minister during his visit to Shamozai Swat, wherein, a number of decisions were taken to speed up the pace of work on the above-mentioned project. KP Minister for Sports Mehmood Khan, Advisors to CM Dr Amjad and Mushtaq Ghani, also attended the meeting.

The meeting was told that a sports stadium at Kabal had been completed, while section-4 had been imposed for acquisition of land for Shamozai Sports Stadium, wherein, the estimate of the cost of the land was also being completed and would be given final shape by next week.

The chief minister directed the officials concerned to complete the Shamozai Sports Stadium by accelerating work on it, as well as submitting a summary for Matta, Daroshkhela and Khararai graveyards.

He also instructed to ensure purchase of land for Khapal Kor Foundation Model School in Swat, solving the land acquisition of issue of government degree college in PK-82 and starting construction work on it at the earliest.

The meeting was told that PC-1 for upgradation of a civil hospital at Barikot had been prepared while the land for Umang Special Children School needed identification.

Khattak directed the officials concerned to impose section-4 on land acquisition for Matta College sports ground and a park, as well as solving the land acquisition problems of other developmental schemes.

He also summoned another meeting regarding removal the hurdles to ensure timely completion of other schemes to be attended by the authorities concerned, including Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR).

He called upon the officers concerned to discharge their obligations for the timely completion of the public welfare schemes. He further asked to ensure 100 per cent implementation on governmental instructions in all such welfare schemes.
