KARACHI: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday inaugurated the second LNG terminal at Port Qasim, built at a cost of Rs50 billion.
Talking to the media on the occasion, PM Abbasi claimed that when the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) came to power in 2013, the country was facing a severe energy crisis.
“However, our government has taken steps to control the energy shortage in the country,” he added.
He went on to say that the government’s objective is not to do business but to provide a regulatory framework.
PM Abbasi said that the country is on the path to development and the industry is growing with 5.3 percent GDP which is expected to rise to six percent in the next financial year. He claimed that various initiatives that the government took to resolve the energy crisis have been successful. “As many as three gas stations will be functioning in near future,” PM Abbasi announced.
The premier also stated that more LNG terminals will become functional in the future.
