Mishbah-ul-Haq scored the highest number of runs while team-mate Saeed Ajmal claimed the highest number of wickets in the just concluded two-Test match series between Pakistan and West Indies which ended 1-1.
The Pakistani skipper scored 181 runs at an average of 60.33 and a strike rate of 47.13 with one century and one half-century in four innings of two Test matches.
He hit 21 fours and three sixes in this series. Darren Bravo scored 107 runs at 26.75 and a strike rate of 31.19 with one fifty in four innings. He hit nine fours and two sixes in four innings. Saeed Ajmal took the first sport among the bowlers. The off-break bowler claimed 17 wickets at an average of 14.47 and an economy rate of 2.10. Ravi Rampaul was the most successful bowler for the hosts The claiming 11 wickets at 20.90 with a economy rate of 2.60. Two centuries were scored, both from Pakistan side. Taufeeq Umar made 135 while Misbha-ul-Haq scored an unbeaten 102 in the second Test.
Two bowlers, on three occasions, claimed five-wicket hauls. Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal took two five-wicket hauls, six for 42 and five for 69, both in the first Test at Providence. West Indian skipper Darren Sammy also took five wickets for the 29 in the first Test match.
Saeed Ajmal picked up the improbable figures of 11 for 111 in the first Test which was very unique. Although Australian Ray Bright, against Pakistan in Karachi in 1979-80 and Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan, against Bangladesh in Colombo in 2001, both came close, taking 10 for 111. There have, however, been 24 instances of a bowler taking 1 for 111 in a Test innings, the most recent by Peter Siddle for Australia in Sydney during the last Ashes series. On his Test debut for Sri Lanka against India in Colombo last July, Suraj Randiv had innings as well as match figures of 2 for 222, while Sunil Joshi also returned 2 for 222 in the match for India against Zimbabwe in Nagpur in 2000-01.
