- Sindh CM says Dr Asim resigned as PPP’s Karachi chief for personal reasons
HYDERABAD: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday said that an inquiry should be conducted into the serious allegations levelled by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) against each other.
Talking to journalists in his village near Sehwan Sharif, he said that the alliance formed between the two parties split up within 24 hours. The parties traded barbs and also demanded division of Sindh, he said, adding that Sindh was a one province and would remain one.
Chief Minister Murad said that one of the three terrorists involved in the terrorist attack at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar had been arrested, another was killed in an encounter with the security agencies in Balochistan, while only one was still at large.
Responding to a question, he said that former federal minister Dr Asim Hussain had resigned as the Pakistan People’s Party Karachi chief for personal reasons. He said that the court had allowed Dr Asim to go abroad for treatment.
To another query, he said that they had raised their apprehensions regarding the national census in the meeting of the Council of Common Interests. He said that the PPP favoured holding of the next general elections in time and would oppose their postponement.
Answering a question, the chief minister said that the Sindh government would make appointments on merit. He said that the provincial government was taking steps to restore the Manchar Lake, one of the largest lakes in the region, and in that regard funds had been released for the construction of the Right Bank Outfall Drain (RBOD).
Earlier, Chief Minister Murad visited the grave of his father Syed Abdullah Shah, former Sindh chief minister. Hyderabad Commissioner Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, senior police and other officials accompanied him.
