LAHORE: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has made an unprecedented increase of 1,000 percent in the price of water tariff for service stations.
The sewer bills were doubled and the stations experienced this sudden rise without consultation or prior notice. No intimation of such an action was given by WASA before initiation of this increase in water tariff.
Service stations that used to pay Rs 1,500 per month will now pay Rs 25,000 regardless of the ratio of water consumption.
The amount of water consumed is not mentioned on the bill whereas WASA earlier decided to install meters to determine the accurate ratio of water consumed.
Service Station Association announced to stage protest against WASA over this policy and demanded a decrease in the water tariff.
