A mortar shell blast in Orakzai Agency of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) killed a child on Thursday.
Security officials told English daily that the child was playing near an abandoned field in Utmankhel when his foot landed on an old mortar shell.
Consequently, a blast took place which killed him on the spot.
Later, security forces cordoned off the area and a search operation is underway to find more of these explosives in the village.
