Over 96% of PM’s Flood Relief Fund spent on ads, NA body told

The Privatisation Commission on Tuesday disclosed to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Privatisation that the former minister had spent Rs 260 million on the advertisement campaign while Rs 270 million were donated to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund.
Khwaja Muhammad Asif of PML-N had asked as to how much money was actually donated to the relief fund and how much of it was spent by former privatization minister Senator Waqar Ali Khan on the campaign’s advertisement during the devastating floods in August last year. Officials said that the Privatisation Commission donated Rs 270 million to the relief fund while advertisement cost Rs 260 million.
When Asif asked as to who had sanctioned the money for advertisement and through which media agencies the ads were released, the official said that the minister had sanctioned the funds. However, they sought time to provide further details.
