Padmavati has been in the line of fire and has been facing opposition for quite a while now. While the director of the film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been in constant conversation with the media regarding the opposition, lead actor Shahid Kapoor spoke to the media yesterday at a fashion event and urged the people to first watch the movie without harbouring any preconceived notions.

Addressing the issue, Shahid, who plays Maharawal Ratan Singh in the film, said, “I’ve been saying this for a long time. Watch the film and then decide. Give the film a chance and don’t form preconceived notions. We have tried to keep everyone’s feelings and interests in mind.”

The period drama also features stars Deepika Padukone in the title role of Rani Padmavati and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, the Delhi sultan.

Shahid said the entire team is proud of the movie and is overwhelmed the way it has received support from the industry.

“The whole team is proud of the film. I think it’s going to be a special cinematic experience, something which I hope the entire fraternity will be proud of. The response I have received after the trailer (released)… Genuinely the whole fraternity has come together to support the film.”

Apart from Shahid, Bhansali has also been clarifying claims against the film saying that there are no scenes which will hurt anyone’s sentiments.

Recently, Ranveer Singh also put up a photograph on captioned, “Losing my religion” and that sparked even more debate and outrage against the actor and the film.

Padmavati, slated to release on December 1, has sparked immense outrage with people demanding the film not be released to the point that petitions have also been submitted in the Supreme Court against the director.
