LONDON: Metropolitan Police Service (Met police) chief Cressida Dick has said that the British police will continue its investigations against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain.

Responding to Member of Parliament (MP) Naz Shah’s query about progress made in the investigation, the police chief said, “We are carrying on with our investigations and are working closely with Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).” She added that the investigation involves working closely with the authorities in Pakistan.

She assured the lawmaker that the police will continue its investigation, and added that hate-mongering should not be tolerated anywhere, either in Britain or in Pakistan. She said that “Pakistan needs cooperation from the UK and the UK needs cooperation from Pakistan.”

Naz Shah responded by saying that freedom of speech was everybody’s right but hate-mongering was not. “There is a big difference between free speech and incitement to kill,” she added.

Shah said that she would continue asking police and the Home Office regarding the progress of the cases involving the MQM founder.
