Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz spokesman Siddiqul Farooq on Monday said the tragic incidents of Abbottabad and PNS Mehran in Karachi reflected the weaknesses in country’s defence system and posed a serious challenge to the armed forces top hierarchy. “In is now inevitable that the leadership of the armed forces must give up indulging in country’s politics, and instead of placing the intelligence agencies to hunt politicians, order them to devote all their energies to identify and eliminate enemies,” Farooq said at a press conference. He said the military bosses would also have to ensure that selection and training of personnel in the three services should be made in a way that traitors like Pervez Musharraf could not join the ranks and files of the armed forces. He demanded Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to sit with Leader of the Opposition Ch Nisar Ali Khan and form a commission immediately in line with the resolution of the Parliament to investigate the Abbottabad episode as well as the PNS Mehran tragedy so as to ascertain the weaknesses in defense system and expose the facts that led to defaming of the country and its security agencies. Siddiqul Farooq warned if the prime minister and the PPP leadership did not fulfil the responsibility assigned by the Parliament through a consensus resolution, it would prove that they were not sincere with the defence of the country and pursuing their personal agenda.
