LAHORE: Pakistan’s suspended fast bowler Muhammad Aamir is hopeful that he will be cleared of the spot-fixing charges when ICC’s full hearing will convene in the near future.
The ICC’s code of conduct commission, headed by Michael Beloff, upheld the trio’s suspensions after a two-day hearing in Dubai on Sunday. The innocence or guilt of the players will now be judged at an independent tribunal, the date of which is yet to be decided.
“All bowlers bowl no-balls and it can happen with anyone, but that does not mean I have done spot-fixing,” Aamir said here. “It is a fact that Mazhar is my agent and a good friend, but it does not mean that I have been fixing matches,” said the 18-year old fast bowler.
He further added that he has been living the same life style he is used to and has not adopted any wrong means to earn illegal money. “I was a member of the team that won the Twenty20 World Cup last year and we received a lot of prize money and bonuses.
We get paid Rs.200, 000 to Rs.250, 000 for every ODI and around Rs.300, 000 to Rs.350, 000 for a test match,” he added. “I am also doing endorsements. So, I am earning good money and that is how I purchased a house in Lahore,” he added.
He did not go into the details of his hearing in Dubai and said that he was waiting for the date of the final hearing from the ICC.
