LONDON: A pizza delivery guy is fighting for his life and maybe blinded after being attacked by acid in London on Thursday evening, reported The Independent.

Muhammed Nawshad Kamal, 32, was working in a town in east London on Thursday when he faced the attack.

The police have arrested a 14-year-old on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm, media report confirmed.

According to police, two people on a scooter approached Kamal and tried to steal his bike, and threw acid in his face “repeatedly”.

“This attack has left a man fighting for his life and with terrible eye injuries,” a senior police official said.

“This was an innocent man going about his work as a delivery driver, who may never see again.”

London has seen a number of acid attacks this year.

A spate of attacks with corrosive substances has fuelled a rise in violent crime across England and Wales in the past year, with recorded offences up by 13 percent.

The Government has responded with stricter controls on the sale of acid and a law making it illegal to carry acid in a public place without a good reason.
