The district bar association members observed complete strike on Monday to condemn the murder of two lawyers of Karachi. A DBA general body meeting, held with Bar President Mian Farrukh Iqbal in the chair also passed a resolution demanding immediate arrest of the killers of both the lawyers who were brothers. Strike was also observed by the lawyers of Gojra and Kamalia.
THREE BOOKED FOR ABDUCTION ATTEMPT: Rajana police on Monday registered a case against Muhammad Rafiq of Chak 196-RB and Rasheed of Chak 267-RB and their unidentified accomplice for attempting to kidnap Saqib Hameed of Chak 247 GB over an old enmity. No arrest has so far been made.
CHEMISTS’ BODY ELECTED: The annual elections of Chemists and Druggists Association were completed here on Monday. The new office bearers are: president, Imran Manzoor, vice president, Asif Farooq, general secretary, Mahboob Akbar Kashi, finance secretary, Ziaul Haq, and secretary information, Sajid Mahmood. The election commision members, Ch Abdul Ghafoor and Naseer Ahmad, supervised the election.
DRY CLEANER’S SHOP GUTTED: A dry cleaner’s shop was gutted on Monday in Kamalia. Javed went home on Sunday night after closing his shop in Zeeshan Colony. When he opened it on Monday morning, he saw the fire destroying his valuables. The fire broke out owing to short cicuit. Before the arrival of fire brigade, 500 clothes and other valuables had been burnt.
HELD FOR TAKING BRIBE: Anti-Corruption Circle Inspector Farooq Mazhar and judicial Magistrate Irfan Akram Tarar, in a raid, arrested Union Council No 61 Secretary Syed Khan when he was taking bribes of Rs 6,500 for issuing a birth certificate to a person. The accused has been booked and sent behind bars.
TWO BIKES STOLEN: Two motorcycles were stolen in separate incidents the other day. Adeel of Chak 383/JB parked his bike outside the clinic of Dr Anwar and went in. When he came out after a while, the bike was not there. In another incident, Ahsan Anwaar parked his motorcycle outside his house from where it was stolen.
