274th annual urs celebrations of Shah Abdul Bhitai underway

HYDERABAD: The three-day 274th annual urs celebrations of great Sufi saint and poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai began at Bhitshah Town on Saturday with traditional zeal, enthusiasm and festivity, in the presence of thousands of devotees.

The Sindh acting Governor Agha Siraj Durrani officially inaugurated the urs celebrations by laying a floral wreath on the saint’s mausoleum and also offered fateha.

He also distributed clothes among deserving women and heard poetry written by Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai inside the premises of the mausoleum.

Furthermore, Durrani inaugurated the cultural village event, organised by Sindh Culture Department at Shah Jo Baag, where he enjoyed a traditional Sindhi breakfast. He also visited the stalls of folk artists and appreciated their performance.

Durrani also inaugurated the agro-industrial event where various provincial government departments, including Sindh Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries departments, set-up stalls to highlight the important developments in agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors of the province.
