ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday visited journalist Ahmad Noorani, who was recently assaulted by unknown individuals.
The minister stated his resolve in carrying out a fair investigation of the incident.
Ahmad Noorani, senior News/Jang journalist was attacked by six unknown men earlier this week while travelling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad. He suffered head injuries during the knife attack and was transferred along with his wounded driver to Poly Clinic Hospital, Islamabad.
The interior minister stated that advance equipment was being utilised to aid the investigation of the attack. The preliminary report of the attack on Noorani was given to the Interior Ministry which reveals only one identifiable picture of an assailant.
The report discovered that the attackers were following Noorani from Rawalpindi and were trained to hide their faces from close circuit cameras. The report recommended the Intelligence Bureau and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) aid the investigation process through geo-fencing.
Adviser to Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui also arrived at the residence of the injured reporter and inquired after his well being.
