PTI chief says only Imran will catch ‘big crocodiles’

Says his party not doing politics but ‘jihad’ against mafias that control Pakistan

 

MANDI BAHAUDDIN: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday claimed that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif were responsible for burdening the nation with a huge debt.

Secondly, he promised to fix the NAB which will stop corruption and money laundering. “Only Imran Khan will be able to catch the big crocodiles,” he claimed.

“They are not politicians; they are mafias who have looted the nation for the past thirty years,” Imran lashed out at the PPP and PML-N leadership.

“Enemies are not capable of harming the nation in the way that this mafia has.”

Addressing a rally in Mandi Bahauddin, the PTI leader said that the nation is being pushed into poverty due to the debt and inflation that has brought upon the country’s economy and nation by the ‘mafia.’

“The corruption mafia is looting the country,” Imran insisted, adding that unfathomable amount of deep-rooted corruption exists even in the process of collecting taxes.

He further said that only the common man is paying taxes, while the elite of the country, including Zardari, elude authorities.

“I will catch the influential crooks by introducing reforms to the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) and National Accountability Bureau (NAB),” he said, “And after these criminals are brought to justice, the common man will be relieved from paying high taxes.”

The PTI leader claimed that the country was suffering from corruption involving Rs4,000bn, of which Rs3,500bn were collected in taxes.

“The money laundered from Pakistan easily amounts to Rs1,000bn,” Imran claimed as he stressed on the need for urgent reforms for the country’s economic framework and institutions responsible to build efforts against corruption.

He also claimed that he faced many hardships inflicted on him by the same mafia (Nawaz and Zardari), ever since he started his political struggle.

“This mafia continues to damage Pakistan for its own benefits,” he said.

“Nawaz’s children’s business, Eids, treatment, and shopping are done in London. Zardari hardly comes to Pakistan, while Bilawal hardly speaks Urdu.”

Imran mentioned the testimony of Lyari gang war kingpin Uzair Baloch to fling allegations at Zardari.

“Baloch confessed that at the behest of Zardari, he got people murdered and illegally confiscated 14 sugar mills in the province to sell them at throwaway prices to the PPP-co chairman,” Imran said. “What is this if not corrupt mafia?”

Taking a jibe at the former prime minister, Imran claimed that the Sharif family accumulated billions of dollars in wealth by looting the people of Pakistan.

“Since the past 30 years, the Sharif mafia, labelled as the godfather by the Supreme Court, has captured Punjab,” he said.

He also criticised Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, saying that a hospital is being built in Mandi Bahauddin since last nine years. “I have never seen a bigger showoff then Shahbaz Sharif,” he said adding that the promises of ending load shedding within six months were futile.

He said that it was the responsibility of the state to provide for the youth, and they will provide excellent education and health to them, and will form a policy for the marginalised and downtrodden people.

“If he escapes from jail, then we should send him to Bollywood,” he quipped. He said that seven billion has been spent on the security of Sharif’s house in Raiwind, where 2,500 policemen are deployed, while Shaukat Khanam Hospital was built within Rs4bn.

Imran also said that “Aziz Baloch has exposed Asif Zardari and his family.”

In a Twitter message, he said that PTI is not doing politics but doing jihad against corrupt people who have occupied Pakistan.

“Aziz Baloch has unveiled the mega corruption committed by Asif Ali Zardari and his other family members who looted the public money”, he concluded.

Later, in a separate tweet, he condemned the murder of Noor Zaman, saying, “Strongly condemn Noor Zaman’s murder in Lakki Marwat today. My condolences & prayers to the family. His killers must be apprehended quickly.”

In an earlier address in Mianwali on Saturday, Imran had asked the Chief Minister of Punjab, Shehbaz Sharif, to stop fooling the nation.
