LAHORE: A spokesman of Primary & Secondary Health Department Punjab has said that no policy is under consideration to retire lady health workers (LHWs) at the age of 50.

He said that the government has regularised all the staff including LHWs and other staff of Mother & Child Health Program and now all the employees of the programme are civil servants; according to the rules, they cannot be retired before reaching the age of superannuation.

The spokesman made it clear that the child health programme is not going to be handed over to any foreign company and all the speculations in this regard are baseless. The spokesman said that the Primary & Secondary Health Department is working on the service structure for the MNCH Program employees and a comprehensive plan is being finalised for their promotion. No LHW will be retired from the job at the age of 50, the spokesman clarified.
