RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Monday conducted an operation against unauthorised construction and sealed a property in the residential area of Asghar Mall Scheme.
Following directives of Rawalpindi commissioner and RDA Director General (DG) Talat Mahmood Gondal, the authority’s Building Control Wing had been actively conducting operations against illegal/unauthorised commercial and residential construction activities, including plazas/shops, schools and other illegal land used within the jurisdiction of the RDA in the city.
In pursuance of directions, Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate and RDA’s Enforcement Team, under the supervision of RDA’s Building Control Superintendent Syed Aslam Shah, Building Inspector Mukhtar Ahmad and city police, had carried out an operation against illegal flats constructed at Asghar Mall Scheme.
During the operation, the RDA Building Control Wing sealed illegal flats owned by Raja Farooq Sarfraz at property No P-1542. According to officials, the owners of the property had constructed an illegal 3rd floor in violation of the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations Section 39 and 8.2.2.
It is important to mention here that civil judge Raja Javaid Iqbal had cancelled stay order on the above-mentioned property, and this building was previously sealed on July 22, which was reopened by the owner in complete disregard of the court order.
Earlier, the RDA director general had directed the authority’s Enforcement Wing to take strict action against illegal/unauthorised constructions, commercial activities and encroachments without any fear or favour.
