MULTAN: Multan Institute of Cardiology’s medical team issued a statement, saying that Mufti Abdul Qavi will go through another phase of angiography on Monday or Tuesday.

Mufti Qavi had undergone angiography on Saturday that showed his left valve was blocked.

The statement issued by the hospital further stated that the hospital cannot discharge the patient, Qavi, without comprehensive treatment. However, the police are expected to appeal for extension in Qavi’s remand today.

Mufti Abdul Qavi was admitted to a Multan hospital on Thursday evening after he had complained of chest pain, hours after he was remanded into police custody till October 23 in the murder case of Pakistani social media sensation Qandeel Baloch.

Police had included Mufti Qavi’s name as a suspect in the murder case of the social media celebrity on the request of her father, Muhammad Azeem, the complainant in the case, who in a statement before the police suspected the cleric’s possible role in her murder. On Saturday, Qandeel Baloch’s parents also claimed that Qavi offered them millions in bribe to withdraw the case against him.

Qavi, who has been kept under observation in hospital, is also reported to have a history of two stunt placements.

Earlier this week, the police had managed to nab Qavi from the Punjab Highway after he had fled the court following the rejection of his pre-arrest bail application by a Multan’s sessions court in the Qandeel murder case.
