Report of health week held in August launched

LAHORE: Minister for Primary and secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir has said that the Punjab government is trying to fill the gaps in the Health sector which have prevailed over the last 70 years. He expressed these views while addressing the report launching ceremony of health week 2017 here in a local hotel on Sunday.

The minister said that the Primary and secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) had observed health week 2017 from 15 to 19 August, during which 438 screening camps were set up  in which 362,000 people were screened across Punjab. He said that an individual act of negligence spoils the image of the whole department. He further said that the night duty timing of gynecologists will be monitored strictly.

At this occasion, the minister said the health department is spreading the network of hospitals in Punjab. He said that the Punjab government has spent billions of rupees in the Health sector as compared to other provinces.

He further said that the best health facilities are being provided in tehsil and district headquarter hospitals. At the occasion of P&SHD Secretary Ali Jan Khan has briefed the participants about the results of the report of the health week. Ali Jan said that findings of this will be helpful for the prevention and cure of communicable and non-communicable diseases. Members of international health organisations and donor partners appreciated the P&SHD for initiating such a positive step which is directly related to the health of the poorest strata of the society.
