Bilawal rallies in Peshawar, says PTI, PML-N polluted politics

PESHAWAR/SUKKUR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that, despite being ousted, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif “has stuck to his seat”.

“I want to ask you [Nawaz Sharif] what is progress. Not even a single social class is happy with your policies. From trader to shopkeeper and from factory worker to mill owner, from grower to employees to pensioners, all are concerned,” he said.

While addressing a rally in Zangli area of Peshawar on Sunday, Bilawal also criticised Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, saying he is ready to do anything that would take him to the Prime Minister House.

“He [Imran Khan] is the biggest lair I have ever seen. They enjoy the politics of unrest. Khan is even unable to control his tongue,” he maintained.

“Imran Khan was declaring terrorists his brothers at a time when our soldiers were being slaughtered,” he said.

The PPP chairman raised a question that why mega corruption was not being probed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “Imran Khan wants to prove himself as innocent while accusing others of corruption.”

Discussing the government, he said, “The inept federal government has not done anything but deceive the public,” adding, “No section of the country is pleased with the government’s policies.”

The PPP leader added that the economic situation of the country would improve when there are employment opportunities for the people, believing that “there would be no progress if people, including farmers and pensioners, are in crisis.”

Bilawal said both PML-N and PTI were misleading the nation with false claims of prosperity and provision of facilities to the masses, whereas, the provincial government of Sindh has been facilitating the citizens.

“The PTI and the PML-N have polluted the politics,” said Bilawal.

Defending his own party’s government, he alleged that problems were created in the implementation of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). “Hospitals and trauma centres are being established in Sindh to provide free healthcare facilities,” he added.

Bilawal, however, suggested that October 26 is the day when the public will get to decide for themselves, saying, “We will be contesting elections against two parties that are in government; you have to decide who served and gave you an identity.”

It is crucial to note that the October 26 by-election is being viewed as a litmus test for the ruling PTI’s popularity in the province.

After PTI’s Gulzar Khan passed away on August 28, the seat had fallen vacant.

The constituency of Peshawar consists of the following suburban areas: Badabher, Chamkani, Matni, Adezai, Ahmadkhel, Bazidkhel and Koh Damaan.

It is important to highlight that, in the 2013 polls, PPP’s candidate got only 12,000 votes. PTI’s candidate came out on top with 55,134 votes, while PML-N’s Nasir Musazi had obtained 20,412 votes. Moreover, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Sabir Awan had secured 16,493 votes, whereas Awami National Party’s candidate Arbab Ayub Jan had received 15,795 votes. Lastly, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F candidate Arbab Kamal ended up with 12,519 votes.

PPP MADE NEW PAKISTAN AND WILL KEEP IT FLOURISHING

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah said that PPP made ‘Naya Pakistan’ and the party will keep the country on the path of development.

Addressing a gathering in Sukkur, he said PPP was the only political party to have completed its 50 years.

Shah said that due to wrong policies, the country shifted towards disintegration, adding, “The government is trying to run the country by taking loans.”

The opposition leader said that back in the day, military ruler Zia-ul-Haq’s policies gave birth to terrorism, due to which unemployment still plagues the youth. He said that when held accountable for wrongdoing, prime ministers apologise and leave, while the PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto laid his life.

The senior PPP leader said that Bhutto had great designs for the country’s progress but his death was a part of a big conspiracy against Pakistan.

“Bilawal is our hope and he will be similar to his grandfather,” he added.

While taking a jibe at the ruling PML-N, Shah remarked that “those who cannot keep their workers and children safe, won’t be able to save the country either.”
