ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Farhatullah Babar has said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairman Asif Zardari have ruled out helping former prime minister Nawaz Sharif he is facing in the current political circumstances.

Addressing media in the federal capital on Saturday, the senator said that the PPP leaders do not want to meet Nawaz in the present scenario because it would send a wrong message all over. “PPP always believes in the politics of reconciliation, but it is Nawaz who backed out,” he added.

He also said that Bilawal and Zardari want the matters to be solved according to law, however, he added that PPP would intervene and come to the fore if democracy is threatened in any way.

About the legal proceedings, the Babar said that he believed the documents in Nawaz’s case were pretty authentic, which would soon take the case to a logical end. He added that Nawaz Sharif and every citizen of the country have the right to fair trial under Article 10A (Right to Fair Trial) of the Constitution, which not only to extends criminal charges but also to civil rights and obligations.

“If Nawaz has reservations that laws have not been implemented in their true spirit then he can challenge the case,” the senator said.

Asif Zardari had earlier demanded immediate arrest of the Sharifs. He had said that Nawaz Sharif had sent them secret messages for reconciliation but his party rejected the idea.
