Park Sang-Hyun took advantage of calm conditions to take the lead at the SK Telecom Open on Friday, a shot clear of Kurt Barnes, who equalled the course record with a second round 64. South Korean Park, who won the title in 2009, shot six birdies and an eagle in a seven-under-par second round of 65, moving to 10 under overall at the Pinx Golf Club.
Barnes, 26, managed to equal the course record despite dropping a shot and lay in second place on nine under, while overnight leader Andre Stolz slipped back to four under. “My swing has been feeling great all week and I am striking the ball really well,” said 28-year-old Park, who finished third at the Ballantine’s Championship behind world number one Lee Westwood at the end of April.
“Three-under-par in the first round was a great score considering the weather and then in the second round the weather was much clearer and I knew I would have to shoot a better score and I was able to do that.”
