JAMMU: A 22-year-old Pakistani, who was arrested during the early hours on Tuesday from along the Working Boundary in RS Pura sector of this district of Indian-held Kashmir (IHK), was sent back to his country after Indian officials contacted their Pakistani counterparts, The Hindustan Times newspaper reported.

The Pakistani national, identified as Ali Raja, a native of Pasroor in Sialkot district, was arrested in Suchetgarh area of RS Pura, the daily quoted the Indian officials as saying. India’s Border Security Force (BSF) officers told the paper that the man was repatriated on the same day.

After questioning him, the BSF contacted Pakistan Rangers and informed them about the man, the paper reported while quoting intelligence sources. “After their verification procedure, Pakistan Rangers confirmed that the man belonged to their country. He was handed over via the Octroi post in Suchetgarh,” the paper reported.

Reportedly, the Indian forces also seized some Pakistani currency from the man. Early reports suggested that the BSF personnel noticed the man trying to sneak into the disputed state under the ‘cover of darkness’ and subsequently arrested him near the boundary.
