Govt working on mardressa reforms: Janjua

National Security Adviser (NSA) Lt-Gen Nasser Janjua Thursday convened an important meeting to review progress made so far on madressa reforms.

Among others, Federal Minister for Education Baleeg-ur-Rehman, prominent members of Wifaq-ul-Madaris and Ittehad-e-Tanzeemmat-e-Madaris Pakistan Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman, Qari Muhammad Hanif Jalandhri, Muhammad Yasin Zafar, Maulana Abdul Malik, Maulana Niyaz Hussain Naqvi and senior officials from different departments of the Education Ministry attended the meeting

According to a press release, the NSA gave a presentation on the efforts made so far to absorb the students of madaris in the mainstream educational system of the country. He said the reforms were aimed at making the students useful citizens of the society so that they could join any profession of their choice like every citizen in the country.

He discussed the matters pertaining to curriculum, strategy and procedures involved in the process of mainstreaming, proposed system of examination and further up-gradation of madaris in future. The participants appreciated the progress and reiterated resolve to continue working together for provision of better opportunities to students of madaris.
