KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar on Monday ordered provision of one-month fire risk allowance along with the salary to the staff of fire brigade.
While presiding over a meeting here, Akhtar said that it was their priority to solve the problems of the fire brigade, therefore, the employees will be given one-month fire risk allowance along with their monthly salary.
“Efforts are underway to make Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) financially strong and to provide better civic facilities to the people of Karachi. We expect that firefighters would keep performing their duty in an excellent way,” said the mayor. He also formed the committee which has been assigned to visit all fire stations for payment of fire risk allowance.
Akhtar also assigned the committee to pay surprise visits to the fire stations to check attendance of the staff.
The meeting was attended by Fire Brigade Committee Chairman Aman Khan Afridi, Land Chairman Arshad Hussain, Finance Committee Chairman Nadeem Hidayat Hashmi, Advisor to Mayor Farhat Khan, Municipal Commissioner Asghar Abbas, Fire Brigade Director Syed Tasneem Ahmed, Chief Fire Officer Tehsin Siddiqui, Municipal Services Director Nauman Arshad and other officers.
