Millwall Football Club’s stadium, The Den, was given a high terror alert last month after a staff member had been caught sending a video footage of the ground to an acquaintance in Pakistan, Marca reported on Friday.

The employee has been working for the club for 10 years and had recently converted to Islam. He was not arrested, but was admitted to hospital because of mental health concerns, according to The Sun.

In the aftermath of the reports on the incident, the club released a statement via their Twitter account.

“Following media reports of a terrorist threat, Millwall Football Club wishes to stress to its supporters and staff that police units, after a thorough and exhaustive investigation, have found no evidence of a direct or indirect threat to the football club, its stadium, employees or fan base,” it said, before going on to remind everyone to be vigilant.

Millwall do not play at home again until October 21, when they host Birmingham.
