‘80 shrines, 78 mosques under control of Auqaf Dept’

Around 80 shrines, 78 mosques and 10,000 acres of agriculture land in Sindh is under the control of the Sindh Auqaf Department, provincial Auqaf Minister Abdul Haseeb said on Wednesday. According to a statement, he was talking to a four-member delegation of the University of Karachi that called on him at his office in connection with its research papers.
The minister said that the Auqaf Department also looks after 4,000 waqaf properties including shops, houses and flats. He advised the students that they should utilise their capabilities and work towards a positive direction. He also asked the students to highlight social problems and directly interact with the masses, particularly with the youth for the latter’s improvement. He advised the students to pay attention to promoting religious teachings along with the traditional education. The student delegation included Danish Ali, Nazima Liaquat, Hasan Rasheed and Bilal Ahmed. They were also briefed about the activities of the Auqaf Department to facilitate them in their research work.
