ISLAMABAD: Awami Muslim League (AML) Chairman Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Friday said that after the restoration of the Khatam-i-Nabuwwat clause, the so-called ‘disqualified government’ wishes to make changes to the judiciary and departments using the majority it holds in the National Assembly.

Rasheed said this in a video message.

He said that he feels pity for the mental state of the government. He also urged the nation to remain vigilant during the current month as numerous political developments are likely to take place during this time period.

The AML chief also asked the ruling government to disclose to the public why they wanted to make these amendments.

On Thursday, the NA unanimously restored the clause relating to  Khatam-e-Nabuwwat in nomination papers to its original form.

The AML chief had earlier challenged the Elections Bill 2017 in the Supreme Court (SC) on grounds that the changes made to the bill were to accommodate a disqualified person.

An amendment to the elections bill had paved way for ousted premier to become president of the ruling PML-N.

The petition further added that amendments to Khatam-e-Nabuwwat laws represent efforts to please the western world.
