Another woman falls prey to mysterious ‘knifeman’

KARACHI: Another woman was stabbed and wounded in Karachi on Thursday by a mysterious knifeman, bringing the total number of victims of the mysterious crime to 13.

It may be mentioned here that the knifeman still remains at large, as police authorities have failed to nab him.

According to police officials, this new victim, a 28-year-old lady, was attacked by a motorcycle rider in Pehelwan Goth area of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

The woman attempted to catch the attacker who attacked her for the second time and fled.

Earlier in the day, residents of the area staged a protest at Jauhar Chowrangi against the continued attacks on women, and failure of the police to nab the culprits.

CASH REWARD FOR INFORMATION ABOUT ATTACKER: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced a cash reward of Rs 0.5 million for anyone who informs about the “knife attacker”.

According to Rasheed Channa, the spokesman for the chief minister, Murad Ali Shah has also got progress report from Additional Inspector General of Police, Karachi, Mushtaq Mahar regarding the knife stabbing cases.

Mahar informed the chief minister that in all 10 cases had been reported to this effect and on Wednesday night 15 arrests were made. One important arrest had been made on Thursday, he added. The chief minister remarked that “I want results”.
