ISLAMABAD: The Allama Iqbal Open Uiversity (AIOU) will organise a two-day national conference on contemporary trends in English language and literature on October 13. The event carries great significance for students, teachers and intelligentsia as it intends to create awareness about the latest trends in English.

While reviewing arrangements for the conference, AIOUs Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shahid Siddiqui said that the moot would be a way forward to deal with contemporary patterns and challenges in the field of English language.

The main objective of the conference would be to provide a platform to AIOU graduate students to showcase their research talents, while also sharing their work with peers and mentors. The two-day proceedings would be attended by the university’s alumni who would interact with the students.

The event aims to collaborate with other higher education institutions in the country for promotion of English language in accordance with contemporary requirements.  It would also help in bringing innovation in the otherwise traditional teaching style and techniques adopted by English teachers in the country.

The moot would also help to engage practitioners and researchers from the field of language, literature and teaching, in a bid to encourage inter-regional cooperation in research and ensure dissemination of knowledge through research findings.

Moreover, the participants would discuss pedagogical issues relating to the language during the conference’s working sessions. It is important to mention here that the approach towards studying and interpreting English language and literature have recently undergone major changes in the wake of contemporary theories and practices adopted in both the disciplines.
