KARACHI: The Supreme Court (SC) has suspended the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) decision in the Karachi Aisha Bawany College land dispute case.

According to details, upon appeal by the Sindh government, the SC has ordered that possession of the land will remain with the Sindh government and issued notices to Aisha Bawany Trust. The court also directed the Sindh government to pay rupees six million to the trust.

A two-member bench, headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, heard the case and the hearing has been adjourned indefinitely.

Sindh advocate general said that the Sindh government is running the college since 1972 and the trust is not authorised to demand rent of the college. He further said that the land is not owned by the trust but it was leased out.
