Minister says 1,027 headmasters, 800 teachers receiving training

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that presently training is being given to 1,027 headmasters, who were recruited through Sukkur IBA and as many 800 newly promoted teachers are also being trained.

He said this while talking to a Canadian delegation, led by Pakistan Development Program Asia-Pacific Branch Deputy Director Christopher Johnston here in his office on Wednesday. He said that two types of teachers training programs are going on; one for in-service teachers and other for pre-service teachers.

He also said that under CIDA, Rs1,261.77 million was being spent to improve teachers training institutions to provide better quality training to the teachers and the programme would continue till June 2018.

According to details, the programme is in progress in districts Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Karachi, Dadu, Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad and Kashmore.

On the occasion, the Dahar informed the delegation that in selected colleges, the teachers training programme would be launched on Saturdays and Sundays to train a maximum number of teachers. He also briefed the members of the delegation regarding steps taken by the education department to enhance educational standard in the province.

The minister also presided over a meeting in his office and directed the schools and colleges secretary to intervene in the matter regarding news of disconnection of electricity supply to the educational institutions and solve such issues on a priority basis. He also directed the contractors concerned to complete work on missing facilities within 15 days and in case of failure action would be taken against them.
