Uzbekistan, Iran to sign MoU for promotion of religious tourism: PTDC

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Managing Director Abdul Ghafoor on Wednesday said that Uzbekistan and Iran would soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the promotion of religious tourism in the country.

He said that promotion of religious tourism was the top priority of the government and his organisation was supplementing governments’ efforts in this regard.

Abdul Ghafoor said the PTDC was carrying out a survey of different areas for promoting tourism and providing facilities to the tourists as well.

He said that he had visited Katas Raj fort area, a historical place, where there was no facility of electricity. He assured that keeping in view of the cultural importance of the area it would soon be provided with electricity in order to facilitate the tourists.

The managing director also directed the fort authorities for providing uniform to the fort staff which will help the tourists in recognising the officials of the fort without any problem.
