ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi should be sent to jail for three years for misleading the Supreme Court by giving a wrong affidavit which stated that PTI leader Jehangir Tareen was named in the Panama Papers.
“Abbasi should be sent to jail for three years for giving the wrong affidavit,” he said.
Speaking outside the Supreme Court, Chaudhry urged Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to immediately resign because of the graft cases he is facing.
“Take a look at Pakistan Stock Exchange. Where is the country’s economy heading,” he added.
Ishaq Dar will be behind bars within three months, claimed the PTI leader.
The PTI spokesperson said that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi should start thinking about the country than saving his disqualified leader.
While talking about the controversial Elections Bill 2017, which was passed in the National Assembly (NA) on Monday, Chaudhry said that the party’s legal team may soon file a petition against it.
He went on to say that all parties have agreed that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) laws need required amendments as they are not completely functional but two parties are adamant to appoint a NAB chairman.
“It clearly shows that they are not serious,” he said. “Our 12-member team will present their draft on NAB laws. We will present our model to parliament and media for debate,” he added.
