ISLAMABAD: SA and SAARC Director General Dr Mohmmad Faisal summoned the Indian deputy high commissioner to lodge a complaint against the ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces in Rukh Chakri and Rawalakot Sectors on September 30 and October 2 this year. The unprovoked shelling resulted in the killing of three civilians, while five others, including a woman, sustained injuries.

During the recent twelve days, as many as five ceasefire violations have been registered against the Indian forces which resulted in the killing of eleven civilians, including five women, and injuring 37 others.

“The deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws. The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation,” the Foreign Office stated in a press release.

The director general of SA and SAARC pleaded the Indian authorities to ensure compliance to the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement in letter and in spirit to maintain peace along the Line of Control (LoC). He also demanded probe into the incidents of ceasefire violations.

He also tried to convince the Indian side to allow UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the directions of UN Security Council resolutions.
