LONDON: Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi are on their way to Pakistan after attending the consultative meeting summoned by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif in London.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner in London, Syed Ibne Abbas, was at Heathrow Airport to see off the premier.

Talking to media before his departure, Abbasi said Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is accompanying him back to the country.

Sources said that on return, the finance minister will appear before the accountability court hearing NAB cases against him.

The federal minister didn’t appear before the court on September 20 after which his bailable arrest warrant was issued. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had raided his house and also frozen his assets.

Meanwhile, the Senate Standing Committee on Finance had urged Ishaq Dar to immediately resign from his office because of the NAB’s corruption reference against him.

The Supreme Court had directed NAB to prepare references against the Sharif family regarding Al-Azizia Steel Mill, London flats and 16 offshore companies.

A reference against Dar for having assets more than he had declared was also ordered.

Earlier, it was speculated that Ishaq Dar would not return to Pakistan for the time being.
