–DIG’s relative robbed

LAHORE: In spite of being millions spent on the revamping of Lahore police force, they have been unable to curb the rising wave of crime in the city. Murders, robberies and related crimes have become a norm in almost every police jurisdiction of the city.

DIG Waqar Abbasi’s cousin Mohammad Tariq’s house in the State Life Housing Society was robbed by four robbers. They robbed the family of 53 tola gold, 1.2 million rupees, and other valuables.  The family called the police helpline, 15, which proved futile as police reached the spot after 40 minutes. Later, an FIR was registered at the Nishtar Town Police Station; however, the criminals still elude the police.

A local resident said that the State Life Housing Society has become home to regular criminal activities which police have failed to address. The resident said that they have taken measures on their own to avoid such incidents but to no avail.

DIG (operations) spokesperson said the DIG has directed the SPs to ensure the security of the people through effective patrolling and picketing. He further assured that due actions will be taken against the ones neglecting their duties.
