Neymar and Cavani’s on-the-pitch squabble over who should take free-kicks and penalties reportedly carried on into the dressing room last Friday night after the 2-0 win over Lyon, something PSG’s Unai Emery’s comments at Thursday’s press conference have now confirmed. While he did not comment on whether or not they almost came to blows, as was reported in L’Equipe, he did acknowledge there was an argument.

“At the end of the match there was a very high level of emotion and there may have been a conversation which caught the attention,” he said. “But that is normal and happens after every kind of game.

“This did not break the harmony and good atmosphere in the team. “They are two players who are very competitive and who want the best for the team, but who also have individual objectives. “Yet there is a good relationship within the group. “Going forward, Emery will organise the set piece takers before the game and said that it would be one of the two who ends up taking them.

“The two players who will take them are Cavani and Neymar, because they are capable and can take on that responsibility,” Emery said.”[I won’t reveal the order now], I will first tell the players. “Finally, Emery denied that there were any cliques in his dressing room, Brazilian or otherwise. “The players all speak to each other,” the former Sevilla coach told reporters. “It doesn’t matter if they’re Brazilian, Argentine, Uruguayan, French or Spanish.”
