The national junior hockey camp started here at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex, under
the supervision of camp commandant
Rana Mujhid.
“The Under-18 lads got training in two sessions for the 3rd Asian Junior U-18 Hockey Cup which would be held from June 17 to 26 in Singapore,” Rana Mujhid told “Pakistan Today” on Monday.
He further said that the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) invited 34 players
for the camp.
“The final 18-member team will be selected on May 25 by the national selection committee. Former Olympian Hanif Khan is the head of the committee while Arshad Chaudhry and Khalid Bashir are the members of the committee,” he said.
“Ahmed Alam, Naeem Anjum and Danish Kaleem are also training the teenagers for the event. Dr. Asad Abbas is providing medical assistance during the camp. The weather is good for the camp in Islamabad,” former Olympian added.
Responding to a question, he said that the practice sessions were being held in two phases. “We start our morning session at 5 am while evening session will be held
4pm and we are concentrating on both
the physical training and the field
training. However, boys are keen to
learn,” he viewed.
