PM in London to meet Nawaz, discuss ‘critical’ issues

LONDON: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and his cabinet have reached London to meet former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, reported a TV channel on Saturday.

Prime Minister Abbasi is en route to New York to participate in the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) commencing from September 18.

According to the UK’s Pakistan High Commission, the prime minister was received at the airport by High Commissioner Syed Ibne Abbas, together with officials of the High Commission.

Speaking to Pakistani media outside his hotel, the PM confirmed that he will be meeting Nawaz Sharif on Sunday. He was accompanied by federal ministers Ishaq Dar and Fawad Hussain Fawad.

Reportedly, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and many other Pakistan Mulsim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders will reach London to meet Nawaz, while Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif is already in London.  The discussions will involve the current situation of Pakistan, completion of energy projects and the legal challenges faced by the Sharif family. According to sources, these meetings will result in important decisions from the PML-N leadership.
