Cameron to plead Pakistan’s case with Obama

British Prime Minister David Cameron on Sunday assured Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani that he would convey Pakistan’s point of view to United States President Barack Obama when he visits Britain next week. The British PM gave the assurance during a telephonic call he made to commiserate the deaths of over 90 FC personnel in twin suicide bombings in Charsadda on Friday.
Gilani told Cameron that Pakistan was committed to working with the rest of the world to eradicate terrorism, but the world must take care of Pakistan’s national interests. The British PM said his country acknowledged Pakistan’s immense sacrifices and also realised the losses it had suffered in the war against terrorism. He acknowledged the political difficulties being faced by the government and assured Gilani of UK’s full support to Pakistan.
Gilani thanked the British PM for his condolences and told him that Pakistan was fighting the war on terror in its own national interest and the campaign enjoyed ownership by the Pakistani public.
