LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) NA-120 candidate Faisal Mir requested the Lahore High Court (LHC)to take the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Begum Kulsoom Nawaz disqualification case to its logical end before the NA-120 election, while addressing a press conference in Lahore on Thursday.

He said that he has given up on country’s judicial system as it seems that the court is delaying the petition due to some kind of pressure. He further said, “My supporters are being forced to question court’s attitude towards the case.”

He questioned is the court counting on making the decision after the election. “We had trust in the rule of law that’s why we moved the court but instead of starting the hearing, court’s benches are being changed.”

He alleged that Maryam Nawaz, even though there is going to be a NAB reference against her, along with PML-N MPAs, MNA, and government officers, is running the election campaign and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is acting as a silent spectator.

Police are not independent in this regard either as it is under the control PML-N Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Furthermore, “we were not able to file an FIR in the firing incident which happened outside the PPP election office. PPP supporters are being harassed in their houses during the campaign while authorities are not paying any heed to our concerns,” he concluded.
