Oppressive heat keeps people indoors

Picnic spots of the city wore a deserted look on Sunday as the heat wave prevailed in the city. Lahore Zoo did not witness the usual hustle and bustle of visitors due to the intense heat while revellers were seen bathing in the canal water. Cold drink sales have increased dramatically after the current heat wave. The mercury touched 48 degrees Celsius at Noor Pur Thal while the weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country.
According to the Met office, plains of the city were under the influence of a heat wave. The heat wave is likely to prevail in most parts of the country. Day temperatures are expected to increase 5 to 7 degrees Celsius in the plains. The Met office also predicted hot and dry weather in most parts of the country during the next three to four days. The day temperatures are expected to increase five to seven degrees Celsius in most of the plains.
Highest day temperatures may reach up to 50 degrees Celsius in some parts of Southern Punjab, Upper Sindh and Eastern Balochistan whereas in Islamabad, the mercury may touch 41 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
