Production of jeeps and cars has increased by an annual 16.14 percent in the first nine months of the current fiscal year. Data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) shows that around 101,522 jeeps and cars were manufactured between July and March 2010-11 compared to the production of 87,419 units during last year. Production of jeeps and cars increased by 26.52 percent in March, 2011 and stood at 15,028 units against 11,878 units in March last year. Meanwhile, production of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) augmented 23.34 and 60.07 percent in July-March (2010-11) and March 2010 respectively over the corresponding periods of last year. Production of motorcycles increased by 18.72 percent in first nine months of the current year and 17.74 percent in March 2011, the data revealed. Meanwhile, 1,194,567 motorcycles were produced in July-March (2010-11) while the production stood at 142,862 units in March 2011.
