Sindh Home Department sources said on Saturday that the Interior Ministry had written a letter (No. 701/14) to the department saying foreigners were in danger of Taliban attacks. “Foreigners might come under attack in the near future, so foolproof security should be provided to them,” said the letter. The Taliban have warned to retaliate with a vengeance to the killing of Osama by targeting foreigners, especially Americans in Pakistan, sources told Pakistan Today. All foreigners and their higher-ups have been informed of the TTP’s threats, while security arrangements have also been made at their offices, residences and other places of work, the sources said.Security has also been beefed up around the newly-built United States Consulate and other sensitive installations in the city after the letter, with patrols intensified around it and other important buildings as well.
