ISLAMABAD: A National Assembly’s session will be held at 3pm today (Tuesday) while Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will preside over a federal cabinet’s meeting later in the day.
As this will be the first National Assembly session as well as cabinet meeting following US President Donald Trump’s allegations that Pakistan is harbouring terrorists, there are speculations that a tough stance would be taken in this regard and heated arguments are expected during the session.
The National Security Division is also expected to give a briefing to the cabinet on national security issues.
The NA will hold its 45th session today, with the agenda, including introduction and debate on several bills and issues from private members.
The prime minister, in an interview to a foreign news outlet yesterday, made clear that there is only diplomatic solution to the Afghanistan issue. He observed that Trump’s new policy for the region, as it stands, is bound to fail.
