Former Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) lawmaker Ziaullah Afridi has joined the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) today, according to media reports.

He announced to join the party after meeting with PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari at Zardari House, Islamabad. PPP leaders Faisal Karim Kundi and Humayun Khan were also present at the meeting.

He said Zardari’s vision will put Pakistan on the way of development, adding that Zardari gave Khyber Pakhtunkhwa an identity, devolved powers to the provinces and also delivered the National Finance Commission (NFC) award. He said many more members from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will join the PPP.

Zardari welcome the inclusion of ex-PTI leader in the party and said the PPP will grow stronger under the leadership of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Last week, Afridi had also submitted an adjournment motion in the KP assembly, asking the KP Ehtesaab Commission (KPEC) to take action against the corruptions practices of the provincial government.

Earlier, on August 16, Ziaullah Afridi had levelled allegation of corruption against the KP chief minister and announced that he would stage a sit-in outside KP Ehtesaab Commission (KPEC) offices. He also criticised PTI chief Imran Khan and Jamat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq for not taking an action against CM Khattak’s misuse of authority.

Afridi was released on a bail in October after he was arrested by the KPEC on the charges of illegal mining and misuse of authority.
